If you’ve had a recent injury and it’s still giving you trouble after a couple of days, we recommend coming in for an assessment. Some signs that you may benefit include pain, swelling, weakness, and difficulty performing your regular movements. It is important to take care of your injury to minimize the risk of a more severe injury in the future!
Nope! We are able to take patients with or without a referral. Fortunately, this lets us take the same day and emergency appointments. If you’ve woken up with an unknown pain, you can come in immediately to be treated. However, some of our patients that have extended health care coverage (EHC) may require a physician’s note for billing purposes.
Wear some athletic, and loose fitting clothes where you are able to expose the injured or affected area. If you have received any imaging, you can also bring them with you for your therapist to take a look at. If you are using extended health care coverage and would like to set up direct billing, bring the card or the plan number to the clinic.
You’ll meet your treating therapist at the first appointment, who will do a comprehensive assessment with you. They’ll ask you questions about your condition to get an understanding of it. Next, they will ask you to perform different movements and may perform some tests on you to reveal the nature of your issue. Once this is done, they will perform a treatment to start resolving your issue, and give you some advice and exercise for home. Then, they will suggest a treatment schedule and help you book your next appointments.
Individual treatment times will vary depending on the area of injury and complexity. Physiotherapy appointments generally last 40 minutes to 1 hour on the first day, including both the assessment and treatment. Follow-up appointments include a reassessment and treatment and are usually around 30 minutes.
